When I read about the black Inglot lipstick some days back I was really intrigued as to who would really be interested in spending some hard earned money and that too on a black lipstick!! But since I came to know about it I just wanted to check it out at Inglot and swatch and see for myself a black lipstick...for the fun of it...I mean many wouldnt even be aware that something like a black lipstick even existed..atleast my mom and my friend wasnt...
Anyways, so when I went to Inglot last week, I looked for it but couldnt find...me thinks it hasnt come here yet so didnt :(
But today during my random visit to Inorbit Mall...I saw something at MUFE which made me :) Wanna see what ??
MUFE Lab Shine Lipgloss in Onyx |
MUFE Lab Shine Lipgloss in Onyx!!!
When I came home with this swatch on my hand and showed my friend and mom and asked thm to guess what this looked like...the ans were all the expected ones...liner, eyeshadow, liquid kajal...but no one guessed it to be a lip gloss and the expression on their face was priceless when I told thm that it was actually a lip gloss!!
I kept on wondering who would spend 1000-1500 bucks and buy a black gloss!! But it seems there are some lovers of black lip color...In the US its quite a known trend followed by people who follow the punk/gothic lifestyle, but what about India? I guess India is not too far behind and the trend might catch up here too...who knows rite....specially with collegians who always have a bit of a rebellious streak in them and want to always do / look different from the general public..
I just remembered a joke on this I cracked with a friend....Gift an Inglot lipstick to someone and when the person opens it Baam!!! its black!!! She might not know how to react :)

** This is just my personal opinion and you dont have to agree with me. This post is not intended to make fun of any race/kind of people**

ReplyDeletehahaha:)
ReplyDeletei just came across ur blog, its so fun:)
Hey C&F...I hope u dont me calling u that :) Thanks!! do stay around :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, when I was younger (in school)there was this b'day party of a class friend in October & she kept Haloween as theme. I went dressed as a witch - & in order to complete the look I remember I borrowed black eyeliner pencil from my mom & smudged it on my lips. Honestly it actually looked quite nice, but it also made me look super-pale. LOL..
ReplyDeleteBut I have learnt over the years from MUAs that black can be used to deepen/darken lip colors that maybe too light or sheer. :)
hehehe...do u have a pic from that party still ???? The MUA at MUFE did mention that they do get some college kids who have come searching fr black lipstick...maybe for some fest or something...
ReplyDeleteUsing black to deepen/darken sheer colors looks like a nice thgt...but wouldnt tht change the color of the base lipstick ?? just wondering ??
Nope, I don't have a pic unfortunately, as I have kinda lost touch with that friend :P
ReplyDeleteBlack is used with lipsticks or lipglosses that are sheer, but it doesn't change the base color - only makes it darker so it reflects less light and looks deeper. Like a light berry shade will become more intense berry - kind of like Clinique Black Honey.. But this trick doesn't work with matt or creamy lip colors as well, plus u need only like a tiny dot of black applied on the lips and blended in with the earlier color.
ohhh thts sad :( wud have been a nice pic for memory sakes na...all halloween get up n all...we dont get to do all these things now :)
ReplyDeleteBlending this black lipstick looks tricky to be...might as well just stick to buying deeper lipsticks/glosses na :) But thanks...atleast I learnt something new :)
Did u go to Inglot ?
@HD: Yea, I did go to Inglot last Monday.. I checked out their liquid blushes. I particularly liked shade 81. The quantity is more than that of MUFE and since I liked this shade so much (It looks uber natural on me) my hubby got it as a incentive gift for me (since I have been on a shopping ban for almost 2 mnths now & adhered to it - he gifted me the blush)
ReplyDeleteI even checked out their foundations - liquid.. Since they are quite expensive and I didn't wanna get one without doing a trial run, I requested the MUA there to provide me with a sample enough for one time application, so that I could test it in office-travel conditions plus full day wear wld give me idea about how it holds up, before pouring so much money down the drain.. But she refused :(
I was quite disappointed about that & wish that Inglot was more generous considering that they are asking us to part with equally generous amounts of cash on their products..
Ohh woooow thats gr8!!! your shopping ban did pay off in a nice way!!! I have the blush in 82 :) I dont like this numbering system of Inglot :( they shud give some names na :P
ReplyDeleteI agree they shud hv given samples atleast...we want to be totally sure before investing soo much money on something and that would last also for a long time so we need to be totally sure before buying!! Maybe wht u cud do is nxt time go there in the morn and then have a complete day out which wud give u a nice chance to test the foundation...I did the same thing with the cream blush..tried it the first time I went so I knew how it stayed till the end of day and then bght it next time :)
Hey that sounds like a great color...Great post HD!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree! It's almost like they are either too lazy to bother naming them or they just are in a cost cutting mode & don't wanna hire a person to name their products.
ReplyDeleteI will have to do it your way I guess, get full face done in morning & then go & buy it later if it passes the full day test :P
I quite liked the liquid blushes, if they weren't so expensive I would have def. got one more. They blend like a dream on me :)
You liked it Rakshanda?? Planning to buy ?
ReplyDeletehehehehe...we wouldnt mind doing that at a reasonable price na :)
ReplyDeleteDo that Tanveer...it will give u more confidence while buying specially high end products..hv done that with MAC too when I wanted to try their black eyeliner but wanted to check the staying power on waterline...it just gives u more confidence :)
Now shud I tell u something abt my cream blush purchase :) I got it at 25% discount :) dont kill me plsssss.....
achha u got the cream blush or liquid blush or is it the same?? I got confused
Wow, how did u get a 25% discount?? I didn't get any :( :(
ReplyDeleteI got the liquid blush - it is called the face blush - in a bottle like MUFE with a dispenser on top.. not cream
I see that you got cream :)
ya ya..me got cream blush...I bght it on the day (sat) they had that fashion show n all...that was the official launch and they were giving 25% disc that day!! yipppeee I got it discounted :)

ReplyDeleteI have seen pics in international bloggers blogs who do wear black and even purple lipstick and trust me they don't look weird but they look like a desperate attention seekers to me..but it will be fun if we all Indian bloggers start with this trend and our family refusing to accept us :D
