Aroma Magic Sunscreen with SPF 50

When my first bottle of Lotus sunblock spray was about to get over I wanted to try some new sunscreen just explore the market even though I was quite happy with the lotus one. So in that exploration mode I bought the Aroma Magic Sunscreen with SPF 50.

Whichever Aroma magic products I’ve tried until now, have worked pretty decently for me….nothing very fantastic but nothing bad either and hence I wasn’t skeptical about buying the sunscreen as well.

Aroma Magic was running some promotional offer when I bought this due to which I got strawberry lip balm and a small tube of grapefruit facewash free with this sunscreen.

What it claims :

A cream with a high content of natural snscreen agents that protects your skin by blocking out UVA & UVB rays. Suitable for sunbathing and during swimming. Safe for delicate skin of children. Suitlable for all skin types.

Active Ingredients :

Extracts of Chinese Tea, Bach, Horse Radish, Neems, Aloe Vera, Quince Seed, Calamine, Octyl, Methoxycinnamate, Benzaphenone-3, Titanium Dioxide and pure essential oils of Wintergreen, Lavender, Bergamot & Geranium.

Price : Rs. 235 for 120 gms

The sunscreen comes in thick fat tube. It has a very very mild fragrance and a pearly kind of finish.

What I like about Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic Sunscreen :
  • I think it does the job of sun protection as per the SPF claim well. I really don’t know of any way one could actually test whether the sunscreen is doing its job?? Unless you are using it at a place like maybe Goa or maybe if you have sensitive skin..otherwise I don’t think there is any full-proof way of ‘testing’it…but I didn’t have any sunburn issues as such while I used this.
  • It gets absorbed in the skin easily. Does not leave the skin greasy or sweaty at all…Infact I find it quite drying for my skin (I have normal-dry skin)
  • It does not leave a whitish case behind for me, but needs to be blended well into the skin since it has a thick consistency
  • It has a nice mild fragrance
  • It has SPF 50 and I like my sunscreens to have a SPF of atleast 30

What I dislike about Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic Sunscreen :
  • I find it extremely drying for my skin. I never use moisturizers with sunscreens on my body as the sunscreen itself is moisturizing enough for me. Only use some base on my face, but with this sunscreen I HAVE to use some moisturizer as its very drying. But this may work very well for people with oily skin.
  • The packing is not very attractive…I find this problem with many aroma magic products..I find their packaging very boring not something which will pull you to their counters in stores. As a matter of fact I used to find their packaging quite ‘cheap’ earlier and until I discovered that they are quite a good brand of aromatherapy products they looked to me like some cheap local brand coz of the packaging.
  • Because of the thick consistency of the cream, you need to rub it in your skin else it might leave some traces behind…don’t like this extra effort I need to put in.
  • The complete ingredient list is not provided...it only mentions the active ingredients
  • Its very inconvenient to get the cream out when ur about to finish the tube..u have to really struggle to get it out..you have to keep on pressing the tube until you get some cream out and its a waste of time for me in the morning when in anycase I am in a hurry.

Would I recommend this to others and re-purchase for myself : I am definitely not buying this again as it is extremely drying for my skin. But I feel it would work well for people with oily skin as it may really control some oil factor.

Which sunscreen are you using?

Chambor Lip Tattoo Liner # 03 Review

I was looking for a nude lip liner since some time…something which I could use with most of my lipsticks…I didn’t want to go and buy a lip liner for each of my lipsticks…Actually till not very long ago I didn’t even use lip liners that much…but wanted to buy one as I felt it would def give a better finish to my lipsticks and also help in increasing the staying power of the lipstick.

A friend of mine suggested the Chambor mechanical lip pencil she has been using in Nude…but I was not so keen on it since I prefer the sharpable ones compared to mechanical ones…But I thought I’ll buy it if I find the kind of nude shade I was looking for…

When I went to the Chambor counter and asked for nude colored lip pencil, the SA first showed me the lip tattoo pencil in no. 03 and my search ended there..

Chambor Lip Tattoo Pencil comes in approx 5-6 shades, most of which are nude kind of shades…

The lip liner pencil is brown in color with a silver cap. The end part of the pencil is of the same shade as the lip  liner. The shade no. is mentioned at the end of the lip liner below the cute rose-type Chambor logo.

Price : Rs. 325

What it claims :
  • Multipurpose
  • Water Proof
  • Precise Shapes and definition to the lips
  • Extra ordinary quality
  • An innovation in itself
  • Revealing the True & Trustworthy companion

What I like about Chambor Lip Tattoo Liner:
  • The most imp. thing which I loved the most in this lip pencil is its creamy texture!!! It is extremely smooth and creamy on application. Does not tug the lips at all even when I try filling up my entire lips with the pencil. I have not used many other lip pencils so wouldn’t be able to compare with others but this one is very creamy.
  • For me it’s the perfectly matched nude shade. It goes with all my daily and casual wear lipsticks…I don’t need a separate one for each lipstick.
  • True to its claim of being non-transferable.
  • Again, true to its claim of being long-lasting. Even at the end of the day or during midway through the day…my lipstick would have faded but the liner is still there.
  • Perfect nude shade to be worn by itself too…When I don’t want any heavy color on the lips, I just fill my lips with the liner and top it with some nice gloss and it gives me the perfect nude lips :)
  • The price is very reasonable. I am sure it is going to last me a long time.
  • It does improve the staying power of my lipstick as it gives a layering to it.
  • The end of the pencil is of the same color as the lip pencil so its easier to spot from your stock.
Not too sure about its claim of being waterproof.. I didn’t try go swimming with it :P …but it does stay through numerous water drinking sessions through the day J

What I dislike about Chambor Lip Tattoo Liner:
  • The complete list of ingredients is not mentioned. I would have liked to know about the same. its not mentioned on the pencil and this pencil does not come in any box which mentions about the same neither does the website list it.
Other than this I have no complains about this lip pencil. It does its job well!!

However I am not sure how Chambor wished this to be multi-purpose ??…A lip pencil definitely not safe to be worn on eyes and I cant think of any other use of this pencil :D

Would I recommend this to others ?

Definately YES!!! It is always recommended to use lip liners for people with thin lips as it adds volume to the lips. Also if you face problems of bleeding lipstick, you definitely should use a lipliner and if you don’t want to buy a separate liner for each of your lipsticks like me..this one is for you!!

This nude lip liner is like a must have for me. I am always gonna keep one with me.

Do you use lip liners? Whats your favourite Nude Lip liner?

It dont matter if your Black or.....Or does it matter??

When I read about the black Inglot lipstick some days back I was really intrigued as to who would really be interested in spending some hard earned money and that too on a black lipstick!! But since I came to know about it I just wanted to check it out at Inglot and swatch and see for myself a black lipstick...for the fun of it...I mean many wouldnt even be aware that something like a black lipstick even existed..atleast my mom and my friend wasnt...

Anyways, so when I went to Inglot last week, I looked for it but couldnt find...me thinks it hasnt come here yet so didnt :(

But today during my random visit to Inorbit Mall...I saw something at MUFE which made me :) Wanna see what ??

MUFE Lab Shine Lipgloss in Onyx

MUFE Lab Shine Lipgloss in Onyx!!!

When I came home with this swatch on my hand and showed my friend and mom and asked thm to guess what this looked like...the ans were all the expected ones...liner, eyeshadow, liquid kajal...but no one guessed it to be a lip gloss and the expression on their face was priceless when I told thm that it was actually a lip gloss!!

I kept on wondering who would spend 1000-1500 bucks and buy a black gloss!! But it seems there are some lovers of black lip color...In the US its quite a known trend followed by people who follow the punk/gothic lifestyle, but what about India? I guess India is not too far behind and the trend might catch up here too...who knows rite....specially with collegians who always have a bit of a rebellious streak in them and want to always do / look different from the general public..

I just remembered a joke on this I cracked with a friend....Gift an Inglot lipstick to someone and when the person opens it Baam!!! its black!!! She might not know how to react :)

So what do you think about Black Lipcolor?

** This is just my personal opinion and you dont have to agree with me. This post is not intended to make fun of any race/kind of people**

Basic & Economical Makeup Essentials for Teens

This post is specially dedicated to Mita..I hope you find this useful Mita.

Teens is the time when we start exploring & experiencing various new things around us. You are just out of school and stepping into a new world known as college life..Everyone wants to look their best in college, you want to be the centre of attraction :) looking hip and happening. You want to look good but at the same time you need to manage on limited budget..…so heres a list of my basic makeup necessities for teens who are probably in the beginning of their journey in exploring the world of makeup.

But but but..before starting with makeup there are a few suggestions I would like to list down about skincare coz I believe a beautiful skin can make even the most simple makeup look gorgeous and proper skincare is what will help you maintain a healthy and beautiful skin.

1. Sunscreen : Always use sunscreen!! Sunscreen should be a must have in your list. You are gonna be out probably the whole day..running from home to college, from college to classes then maybe out with friends before heading back home and you don’t want to harm your skin with all the sun exposure so always remember…NEVER LEAVE YOUR HOME WITHOUT A SUNSCREEN.

Lotus has some really good sunscreens. You can try the Lotus Herbals Sunblock Spray with SPF 50 (Rs. 195)

2. Moisturizer : Drying skin is one of the first signs of ageing. Moisturizer is food for your skin. How long can you survive without food? Not long na...so similarly your skin also needs its regular intake of food i.e moisturizer. Choose a moisturizer and the frequency of application depending on your skin type and your place of residence. Always keep your skin hydrated.

3. Never sleep with makeup on : Always remember to cleanse your face before going off to sleep. Remember this very basic rule of using makeup…Never sleep with makeup on. I agree we all have our lazy days..me too…but even on my most lazy day I clean my face with wet tissues followed with facewash. You don’t want one moment of laziness to give you zits and pimples for the next couple of days na?? So pls…always remove makeup before going off to sleep. One also needs to be more careful about this in teens because that is the time when your body is also under-going a lot of hormonal changes which lead to pimples, acne etc and you wouldn’t want to add that rite. Sleeping with makeup on is one of the worst punishments you could give your skin.

4. Lipbalm : Like your skin, your lips need to be kept moisturized as well. Bad chapped lips is the last thing one would want. Buy a tinted lipbalm which will add some color to your lips while keeping it well moisturized. Even when you don’t feel like dressing up, just kajal n tinted lipbalm and you are ready to rock!!

Lotus lipbalms (Rs. 100 approx) are really nice and they come with SPF15 so you get extra sun protection as well. These come in some yummy flavours like Cherry, Vanilla, Chocolate, Cocoa, Mint...the tint of the lipbalm depends on the flavour you pick :)

Enough gyaan on skincare?? Now lets get to the main point that is makeup.

1. Foundation : I personally feel one shouldn’t be using a lot of heavy foundation that too on a daily basis in teenage years. For daily use I would suggest a tinted moisturizer which is much lighter than foundation in feel, application and coverage

Products to Try : Biotique tinted moisturizer (Rs. 230) or Lakme daily wear soufflé (Rs. 99). I have emptied  couple of jars of the Lakme soufflé during my college years..It is an extremely light weight foundation which would be ideal for daily wear.

2. Compact / Pressed Powder: This will help you set your base (day cream or foundation). It specially helps for combination/oily skin people.

Products to Try : Maybelline Whitestay UV Compact (Rs. 150). Lakme compact does a decent job too (Approx Rs. 150).

3. Kajal : Just a dash of kajal on your waterline can change your entire look. Remember the good old days when our grandmom used to make kajal at home...now you have a variety of kajal available in the market like Lotus, Biotique, VLCC, Shahnaz hussain etc

Products to Try : Lotus herbals Kajal (approx Rs. 119). It has decent staying power on the waterline...

The recently launched Lakme satin finish kajal (Rs. 150) has got some good feedback too.

I also recently tried the Chambor Eye Tatoo pencil (Rs. 325) in black for one whole day and was pretty impressed with its staying power...I might be buying it for myself too.

4. Eyeliner: Colored pencil liners are a really versatile product. You can use these very easily every day and still manage to look different. Wear a thin line on your upper lashline or a thick line with a thin black liquid line or line your lower lashline with eyeliner pencil and finish with kajal on waterline..looks very gorgeous..you can even smudge these on the upper lashline to create a new look.

Products to Try : Maybelline Vivid & Smooth Eyeliner Pencils (Rs. 200) : These have some really gorgeous colors like Olive, Steel Grey.

Colorbar I-glide Pencils (Rs. 325) : These go really smooth on application and last for a long time. Colors to check out are Prunella, Jaded, theres one in dark royal blue too, cocobar

Bourjois Clubbing Eye Pencil (Rs. 325)

Black Liquid Eyeliner: There are various options available in the market for these in brands like Lakme, Maybelline.

However one of the most cheapest one is the Lakme Insta liner which costs approx Rs. 70-80 and does a very very decent job.

5. Lipstick : Since you’ve just started building up your makeup kit, you could buy a couple of light-coloured lipsticks which you can use on a daily basis and maybe 1-2 bright colors which you can wear on night outs with friends or during your college fest or maybe friendship day, rose day etc..

Products to Try : Maybelline has some extremely good lipsticks.

Maybelline Watershine Lipsticks (Rs. 220) : These lipsticks are extremely sheer and hence would be ideal for daily college wear.

Maybelline Moisture extreme Lipsticks (Rs. 220): These are extremely creamy lipsticks with some amazing colors. Couple of my daily wear lipsticks are of this range like Silver Sand, Dusk, Desert Bloom.

Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick
Maybelline Colorsensational Lipsticks (Rs. 299): This is the latest range from Maybelline and since this range has been launched Maybelline has discontinued their Watershine and Moisture Extreme Range so you would only be able to find the existing stock in these ranges. Colorsensational has around 33 shades so everyone is sure to find one for themselves…both light and bright colors.

Oriflame : Oriflame has this Visions V range which has very economical lipsticks for Rs. 89, Rs. 129 and Rs. 149!! Though I have not personally tried these yet, you can always pick up these lipsticks in shades you may not wear very often or just for the fun of it…I am sure 89 bucks wont hurt the pocket much :)

Chambor Lipsticks (Rs. 575) : These are extremely creamy with quite decent staying power and good color range.

Revlon Colorburst (Rs. 550): Again decent staying power, extremely creamy.

6. Lipgloss : A dab of lipgloss gives a very glamorous finish to lipstick. I would suggest buying one transparent gloss with/without shimmer which can be used with any lipstick and then you can buy lipgloss in any color of your liking.

Maybelline Colorsensational Lipgloss
Products to Try : Lakme has some really nice transparent and transparent with shimmer lipglosses. These would cost roughly around Rs. 200- Rs. 250…I bought mine a long time ago so don’t remember the exact cost.

Maybelline Colorsensational Lipglosses (Rs. 250) : These are again new launches from Maybelline and they have some extremely nice color shades to choose from.

7. Mascara : IMO, since you are on limited budget, invest in a mascara only if you think you would be wearing it quite often. Not underestimating the power of mascara but I don’t remember using one in my college days…We don’t really have a lot of time to dress up before rushing to college and since mascaras have a shelf life of only 3 months, invest in one only if you would use it often.

Products to Try : Maybelline Colossal Volum Mascara (Rs. 260)

8. Blush : I don’t think you would be using a blush on a daily basis to college so you could invest in just 1 blush which you can use for all your parties, college fest etc. But do buy 1 blush…just a swipe of blush can change your entire look…I regret discovering the beauty of blush so late..and now theres no stopping me :)

Products to Try : Colorbar (Rs. 250) has some really excellent blushes.

Another brand to check out for blushes is Maybelline Expert Wear blushes (Rs. 209)

9. Eyeshadows : Again I feel teenagers can save some money here. You wouldn’t be wearing e/s on a daily basis hence I would suggest buying a basic palette with some neutral shades and maybe another palette with some colors or singles with colors once you are more confident of using these.

Products to Try : Maybelline Chai Latte Quad (Rs. 240)..it is one of the best brown quads available.

For a colorful Quad, you could try Colorbar Warm Palette (Rs. 499) and also Colorbar singles (Rs. 225).

10. Makeup Brushes : Lastly..you definitely need some tools to use these beautiful makeup items, dont you…..

You can start with Vega brushes which are pretty good at their job…Blush brush (Rs. 95), Eyeshadow brush (Rs. 40-50), blending brush etc…You can either buy a whole set or individual brushes.

Little bit of Inglot Shopping :) and some Streetwear and Lakme too

So finally the wait for Mumbaikars is over!! Inglot finally finally opened in Mumbai yesterday and so I was there today to check out...had been waiting for quite some months for Inglot to open!!

They have opened at G7 Mall at Versova Andheri...Its a new mall which has opened up...Some other brands which have opened up there are PROMOD, Mango...Nine West is coming soon..

The store is really colorful as they have an array of lipsticks, eyeshadows, blushes...

I mainly wanted to check out the lipsticks and their liquid blush...have been hunting for a coral lipstick for myself since some time..tried in couple of brands but they all looked all orangy on me...not coral...and I was hoping I would find 'my coral' at Inglot..

But no..I didnt...I didnt like any of the coral lipsticks I tried and I did try quite a few but none gave the kind of results I was expecting but then I saw their lip paints which had only 2 coral shades if I remember well and one of them was bang on for me...the kind of coral I was looking for :) :) They have a total of 20 shades in Lip Paints I think..

So ofcourse I got that...its shade no. 61...Inglot has only shade nos..no names..The AMC Lip Paint is for Rs. 720

Inglot Lip Paint in No. 61

I also tried the AMC cream blush and quite liked the natural look it gave me...I am all confused on which cream blush to buy...looking for one in a non-shimmery pink natural color so whereever I see cream blushes and am happily checking those out...Lets see which one I end up buying... BTW their AMC Cream blush costs Rs. 750 and so do their AMC Powder blush. The normal Powder blush costs Rs. 720..

I loved their Freedom System Concept...Under this concept you can get a customised palette made of eyeshadows, powder blushes. lipsticks etc....not ready palettes but you get to pick and choose your own color!! Cool na!! An eye shadow or lipstick palette of 3 costs 1200 bucks.

Nail Paints : Rs. 500 approx (dont rem the exact figure)...BTW they are paraben free so the high cost I guess
Lipsticks : Rs. 550
Eye liner : Rs. 560
Single Eye Shadow : Rs. 560
Eye shadow Refill : Rs. 300 each
Lipstick Refill : Rs. 300 each

On way back home I also picked up some nail paints aise hi..There was a Buy 1 Get 1 Free offer on Streetwear nail paints..so got 2 and a Golden nail paint from Lakme which I wanted to buy since a long time

The streetwear nail paint costed me Rs. 110..got 1 free with that and the Lakme one costed Rs. 90.

Everyone in Bombay...do visit the Inglot outlet soon !!

Ponds Age Miracle Day Cream with SPF15 Review

I first bought the Ponds age miracle cream sometime last year when there was an offer of 50% discount with 7 days return offer. I don’t remember the exact offer but it was something like try the age miracle and if after 7 days you don’t see the age reversing effect then get your money back…the offer ofcourse came with T&Cs applied. I bought this for my mom, not expecting any earth shattering results…I just thought even if it works as a good day cream for her it fulfils the purpose as it has SPF too and I was getting the bigger jar for around 300 bucks. The rates as we all must have seen from ads, have reduced now.

It ofcourse showed no such age reversing effect on my mom as the offer claimed but it did no harm either and she likes using it too.

Left 50 ml ; Right 30 ml
What it claims :
Powered by one of our best age-fighting technology – Advanced CLA4 Complex, this smooth textured day cream is specially developed to fight fine liner and diminish age spots.

Advanced CLA4 Complex combines our latest anit-ageing actives : CLA + AHA + Pro-Retinol + Retinol Boosters.

Dermatologist tested. Non-comedogenic

Ingredients :

Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Niacinamide, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Titanium Dioxide/Alumina/Methicone, PEG-10, Dimethicone, Potassium Chloride, titanium Dioxide/dimethicone, Caprylyl Methicone, Mica/Titanium Dioxide, Magnesium Sulfate, Perfume, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Stearic Acid, Cholestrol, DMDM Hydantoin, Sucrose Distearate, Isomerized Linoleic Acid, Acetamide MEA, Disodium EDTA, Ammonium Lactate, Retinyl Palmitate, Cetyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Helianthus Annuus (sunflower) Seed oil, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, BHT, CI 17200

That’s a long list…aint it

Price : Rs. 199 for 30 ml & Rs. 299 for 50 ml. Use within 2 years of manufacturing.

Though I had initially purchased this for mom, I read somewhere that 25+ is the right age to start using anti-ageing products hence I too thought of giving this cream a shot.

As you can see, the bigger jar is already over but I’ve not thrown it away yet…I can use this to store something else later.

The ponds age miracle cream comes in a semi-transparent glass jar with a red cover. I quite like the shape of the jar. The cream itself is light weight in light baby pink colour. It has a very pleasant fragrance but once you apply the cream on your face the fragrance is not that evident. But atleast you would like it while using it. The best part which I like about the cream is the teeny-weeny illuminating particles which give an extremely glowing and dewy finish. However, the illuminating particles are extremely tiny & subtle and hence it doesn’t make you shine like a disco ball at all.

Can you see the light baby pink colour of the cream?

Can you see the amount of quantity used? I have been using this cream every single day since last 3-4 months. I've used only 1/4 of the jar yet.

Can you see the illuminating effect?

What I like about the Pond’s Age Miracle
-          It gets very easily absorbed in the skin. You don’t need any extra effort or time to use this.
-          It has SPF15, hence I don’t need to apply sunscreen separately on my face.
-          It has PA++ which gives protection against UVA rays.
-          The illuminating particles give a glowing, dewy look to the face.
-          It gives a very even finish to my skin.
-          It leaves my skin soft and supple. I like the feel of my skin after applying this.
-          I don’t use foundation daily. Just this cream and compact works as an excellent base for my everyday makeup.
-          A little goes a long way. You need very little quantity for each use. The bigger jar lasted me for around 6-7 months that too with my mom also using it quite alot of times.
-          The glass jar is quite sturdy. I have even traveled with this and it has not broken or cracked.
-          It is non-comedogenic.

What I dislike about the Pond’s Age Miracle
I personally don’t dislike anything really. I found the earlier price on the higher side but the rates too have been drastically reduced now. I am not really sure on how the anti-ageing thing is working…I mean is it really helping delay the ageing process for my skin but since I like the cream otherwise, I would continue using it hoping that it is working on the anti-ageing part as well.

Though for me this cream works absolutely fine, I think maybe…just maybe…if not absorbed properly in the skin this might leave a whitish cast for dark skin tone people.

Another thing which some might not like is you need to dip your fingers in the jar to get the product, unhygienic right?

Would I re-purchase: Definitely yes. I wanted to try the tinted moisturizer from the age miracle range, hence I recently purchased that as well. Though it is too soon to pass a judgement on the tinted moisturizer, I am liking that as well. So I am not sure in future I would like to continue with the cream or switch to the tinted moisturizer or I might just keep both in my kity and use as per my mood since both seem to be working quite well.

Have you tried anything from the Pond's Age Miracle Range? Do you use anti-ageing products?
